Posturing

Back Story: “Posturing” is made from the pages of a 1941 self-help book, Character Knowledge Expression Achievement, part of a practical self-teaching program aimed at developing social skills, poise, and self-confidence through proper voice, speech, and expression. What struck me most was the book's insistence that physical posture was the key to both personal and career success—stand correctly, and everything else would follow. But while good posture guarantees success, "posturing" implies deception or insincerity. Sadly, those self-help authors failed to clarify how we know when we’ve moved from standing correctly to "faking it till you make it" territory.
